  • Cab view of Keikyu Corporation (Keikyu Line) Daishi Line.
The Daishi Line is now one of the branch lines of Keikyu Corporation, but it first opened in 1899. This line, which opened at a distance of only 2km, has since developed into Keikyu, one of Japan's leading private railways.
The purpose of this line was to transport worshipers to Kawasaki Daishi (Heikenji Temple), which is a 10-minute walk from Kawasaki Daishi Station. For people at the time, visiting temples was an important religious event, as well as a recreational mini-trip, and during the Meiji period in Japan, railways were built throughout Japan to transport visitors to temples. .
Heikenji Temple still attracts many worshipers. There were a lot of people there on the day I went out to take pictures, so I've added some footage of the approach to the shrine being crowded.
The stone wall that appears around the 1 minute 25 second mark in the video is said to be the remains of an old station platform.
